Referral partners

The bookkeeper you can hand a client to without losing them.

We do monthly bookkeeping and accounting — and nothing else. We don't prepare returns, manage investments, practice law, or sit in the CFO seat. So when you send us a client, the work that's yours stays yours.

Who we partner with

You already know which clients need this.

Every advisor has a handful of business-owner clients whose numbers aren't good enough to work with. You can't do the bookkeeping yourself, and handing them to a firm that sells what you sell is a risk. That's the gap we fill.

CPAs & tax preparers

The clients who arrive in February with a year of uncategorized transactions and a shoebox. We clean it up and keep it clean, so what lands on your desk at year end is a closed set of books instead of a cleanup project priced as tax work.

Attorneys

Entity formations that need books set up correctly from day one, and litigation, divorce, or estate matters where the business records have to hold up to scrutiny. We don't practice law and we don't opine on your matter.

Bankers & lenders

The loan applicant whose financials won't survive underwriting. Rather than decline and lose the relationship, send them to us — we'll get the statements to a state you can actually lend against and send them back to you.

Wealth advisors

A business owner's personal plan is guesswork until the business numbers are real. We produce the monthly financials and owner compensation picture your planning depends on. We don't manage money or sell products.

Fractional CFOs & consultants

Strategy work falls apart on top of an unreliable close. We own the ledger, the reconciliations, and a close on a fixed date — so your forecast is built on numbers that don't move after you've presented them.

Payroll & software providers

Implementations stall when nobody owns the books on the other side. We take the accounting seat on the engagement, so your rollout finishes instead of sitting half-configured for a quarter.

Lucenti Group is a family-owned firm in Mesa, Arizona — small enough that your client talks to the same person every month, and narrow enough that we will never show up holding a proposal for the work you do.

How it works

Narrow on purpose, so the line never blurs.

Most referral relationships quietly fail for one reason: the firm on the receiving end eventually sells the client something the referrer already sold them. We removed that possibility by not offering those services at all.

What we take on

  • Monthly bookkeeping, reconciliations, and a close on a fixed date
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Revenue recognition — deferred revenue, prepaid packages, and subscriptions
  • Journal entries, accruals, and month-end adjustments
  • Catch-up and cleanup work, including multi-year back-work
  • QuickBooks™ setup, conversion, and file repair
  • Financial statements and reporting by location, department, or provider
  • Payroll processing

What stays yours

  • Tax returns, tax planning, representation, and resolution
  • Legal advice, filings, and anything touching your matter
  • Investment management, insurance, and financial products
  • Lending, underwriting, and the banking relationship
  • Audit and attest work of any kind
  • Fractional CFO and advisory work — we refer that out
  • The client relationship itself — you introduced them, they stay yours

And if your firm doesn't cover all of that, you're in good company — almost nobody does. When a referred client turns out to have a gap somewhere on that list, we have a network of professionals we've worked with and trust, and we'll make the introduction rather than leave it sitting. You stay in the loop on every one of them, and nothing gets introduced over your head.

The handoff

  1. You introduce us by email, or send them to book a call directly — whichever keeps you in the loop the way you prefer.
  2. We scope the work on a free thirty-minute call, and we'd rather you were on it with us. You know the history, you'll hear the quote first-hand, and nothing gets relayed through the client secondhand. If the books need cleanup first, that's quoted separately and plainly.
  3. We tell you what we found. If something in the history affects your work — a filing exposure, a misclassification, a reconciliation that was never real — you hear it from us, with the client's permission.
  4. You get the monthly financials on the same schedule the client does, for as long as the client wants you to have them.

We don't pay referral fees or commissions. That's a deliberate choice, not an oversight. Referral fees create disclosure obligations for CPAs under the AICPA code of professional conduct, fee-sharing with non-lawyers is restricted outright for attorneys in most states, and for investment advisers and broker-dealers, compensated referrals carry their own disclosure, written-agreement, and registration requirements under SEC and FINRA rules. We'd rather not hand you a compliance problem as a thank-you. What you get instead is a firm that returns the favor: when our clients need tax, legal, investment, or lending help, we refer out, and we keep track of who takes care of our people.

Partner questions

What advisors ask before they send us anyone.

Will you go after my client's tax work?

No, and not because we promised not to — because we don't do it. Lucenti Group doesn't prepare returns, doesn't do tax planning, and doesn't represent anyone in front of a taxing authority. There's no department waiting to be cross-sold into.

When a client asks us about their taxes, the answer is to call you.

Do you pay referral fees?

No. Referral fees and commissions create disclosure obligations for CPAs under the AICPA code of professional conduct, fee-sharing with non-lawyers is prohibited for attorneys in most states, and for wealth managers and other financial professionals, compensated referrals carry their own disclosure, written-agreement, and registration requirements under SEC and FINRA rules. We'd rather not hand you a compliance problem as a thank-you.

What we do instead is reciprocate. Our clients regularly need tax, legal, investment, and lending help, and we keep track of which partners take care of the people we send them.

Who owns the client relationship?

You do. We're the bookkeeping vendor on an engagement you introduced. You stay copied on the monthly financials for as long as your client wants you to have them, and we don't make strategic recommendations that cut across your advice without talking to you first.

What size client is a good fit?

Owner-operated businesses, generally from a few hundred thousand in revenue up through the low eight figures, where someone is accountable for the numbers but nobody in-house is qualified to produce them. Service businesses, trades, franchises, and professional practices are our usual ground.

Pre-revenue startups and businesses needing audited financials aren't a fit, and we'll say so on the first call rather than three months in.

How bad can the cleanup be before you turn it down?

We've taken on multi-year back-work, abandoned QuickBooks files, and books that were never reconciled once. Cleanup is scoped and quoted separately from the monthly fee, so nobody discovers the cost halfway through.

The only cases we decline are the ones where the records genuinely don't exist and can't be reconstructed from bank and processor data. That's rarer than owners think.

What software do you work in?

QuickBooks Online primarily, and QuickBooks Desktop where a client is still on it. We work alongside the systems a business already runs — point of sale, practice management, payroll, e-commerce — rather than requiring a migration before we'll start.

What happens if it isn't a fit?

We tell you, and we tell you quickly. A referral that goes badly costs you more than it costs us, so we'd rather decline on the intro call than take on an engagement we can't do well. If we know someone better suited, we'll say who.

Have a client in mind, or just want to know who you'd be sending them to? Book a partner intro call — thirty minutes, no obligation.
